How to turn on Full Access, and what it means

OnKey needs Full Access to reach the AI over the internet. Without it, the keyboard cannot run AI actions, though typing still works.

Steps

  1. Open Settings, then OnKey. Tap Open Settings in the app, or open Settings yourself and tap OnKey.

  2. Tap Keyboards. Open the Keyboards row inside OnKey settings.

  3. Switch on Allow Full Access. Full Access is a separate switch inside the OnKey settings row. Turn it on.

  4. Confirm the iOS warning. iOS shows the same standard warning for every keyboard: that a keyboard with Full Access could send what you type. Allow it if you are comfortable with what OnKey does, explained on the privacy page.

  5. Return to your app. Come back to the app. The app shows Full Access is on.

Only the text you send to an AI action leaves your phone. iOS keeps custom keyboards out of password fields.

Questions

Why does iOS show a warning?

iOS shows the same warning for every keyboard that asks for Full Access. It describes what a keyboard could do, not what OnKey does.

What does OnKey do with Full Access?

It lets the keyboard send the text you submit to an AI action. Read the privacy page for the full list of what leaves your phone.
